Applying your professional background to the new
challenge of teaching in the District is an incredibly rewarding experience.
As with any urban school district, the road to academic success can
be a difficult one, but we believe Fellows accepted into our program
have the record of achievement, commitment and skills necessary to
be successful in DCPS.
In the District of Columbia, two out of three
of our third graders can’t read at grade level. This is only
one of the disturbing statistics that plagues our city. The DC Teaching
Fellows program is addressing this problem head on. Most polled principals
believed that DC Teaching Fellows raised student achievement. You
too can be one of our Fellows who opens the door to success for the
District’s high-needs children.
